Processing of Collections and Archives
Art historians and/or archivists by training, with diverse experience in archival work, research, teaching, and outreach, we work as independent professionals for public institutions as well as individuals or private organizations.
We specialize in the processing of heritage collections and archives from the 19th to the 21st century, focusing in particular on the key stages of sorting, organizing, cataloguing, and rehousing. We analyze, structure, and describe collections and archives in order to make them understandable, accessible, and transmissible.
Our experience has shown that careful processing, supported by appropriate historical research, is the foundation for any meaningful use and promotion of archives and collections. Whether the goal is digitization, publication, exhibition, academic research, or public engagement, these essential steps—often overlooked or undervalued—provide the clarity and structure needed to understand and present the material in a coherent, accessible way. Comprehensive processing helps define the specificities, significance, and context of a collection, laying the groundwork for informed and lasting valorization.
Based in the canton of Vaud and working mainly in French-speaking Switzerland, we also travel to German-speaking regions upon request and work in French, English, and German.
Systemic Reflection
We engage in ongoing reflection on issues arising from our practice, such as the challenges related to the digitization of collections, financial investments required for the preservation and enhancement of heritage materials, the standardization of terminology within management systems, and the human dimension inherent to memory work. Our various collaborations and our status as independent professionals provide us with a broad perspective on the current challenges facing the heritage sector.
We also offer to pool our knowledge and expertise for specific collection processing projects and consulting activities.
